Crossing the Line: First American born! Children of immigrants tell their stories!!!
What do a principal of one of the Top 10 largest lobbying/public affairs firm, a physician/Urgent Care founder, a popular Mayor, and a lobbying firm VP have in common…they are all children of immigrants but born in America. LaRuelist Café will feature these four highly successful individuals in dialogue Monday, November 16th @7 pm live on Facebook and YouTube. Our guests: Patrizia Zita descendant of Italian parents, Mayor Gabriel Rodriguez descendant of Cuban parents, Sabeen Masih descendant of a Pakistan and India parents, and Dr. Tamara Boise descendant of Haitian parents have different stories but in many cases the theme is the same. We will explore how their cuisine differed from a typical American meal. Did their parents’ native cultures influence their religious practices and family rituals away from their schooling? And…yes…we will learn the “why” that brought their families to the American shores and if they have any ties or allegiances to their parents’ homeland. Over the last several years, the discussion surrounding immigrants has been extremely controversial with the sole slant being on those who have sought asylum here without documentation. Often lost in the conversation are the hundreds of thousands of immigrants who have entered our borders legally and have raised families in America who hold positions in some of highest levels of our society. In New Jersey, Governor Phil Murphy appointed Fabiana Pierre-Louis, raised by Haitian immigrants, making her the first Black woman and only the third Black Justice on the State’s Supreme Court. Just this November, Americans overwhelmingly voted in Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, daughter of an Indian American and Jamaican-American immigrants. We will discover one success story after another of first generation Americans born to immigrants who have made huge contribution to the building of this great Nation. We must continue to push for fairer policies and laws for all immigrants who arrive in this Country, irrespective of how they arrive on our shores. In this episode, LaRuelist Café strives to remind its viewers of the many faces and circumstances of immigrants as we move forward in yet another era of this discussion in the coming year.

So...she's going to open the envelop LIVE on FB. Everyone must grieve in his or her own way. During this pandemic, Jeannine is trying to be just a little bit creative to not go through this by herself.
